Not an even playing field at Wednesday’s CPHCA meeting. Postcards mailed without mentioning Wal-Mart. Many residents reported they had not received the postcard announcing the meeting. The Association provided the developer and a Wal-Mart rep with about 35 minutes of time to present (with their powerpoint, etc) and then following the informational (their words – not mine) portion of the meeting, the floor was opened for questions and comments from the audience. Only a few residents were able to get questions in and most were very good but the responses were from the developer & Wal-Mart – no one representing an opposing view was given the opportunity to rebut. The clock ran out and meeting was adjourned. An informal but confusing show of hands was done but the Association President Andrea Dikeou did say they planned to conduct a more formal survey of the neighbors. The Association will meet again in Sept (date and location unspecified) and then in October possible to vote (again no date or location specified at this time)
